To keep your Ford in its best condition there  are several things we think you should know prior to the cold weather. Ford of Pleasanton is going to give you its cold weather car care tips.

One should never go out into the cold weather, especially if the roads are icy/snowy, without knowing how to best take care of your car first. The cold weather can actually affect your vehicle more than you think, and it’s important to remember the following tips.

Check Your Tire Tread

Over time, the more miles your car gets, the more of an effect it will have on your tire tread. When the weather gets colder and snow or ice starts to form, it is incredibly important you have enough tread on your tires. The more tread, the less of a chance you could have of slipping and sliding on the ice.

Check On Your Car’s Battery

Your battery usually works harder when it gets colder, so you need to make sure you check the life of your battery before going out in the cold. Your battery needs to be performing at its best, because the last thing you want is to be stuck in the cold.

Lube Whatever You Think Could Freeze

For example, if you don’t lube your locks on the outside of your door, it can cause corrosion, so in an event where your key fob is faulty, you won’t be able to get into your vehicle, and Ford of Pleasanton wants you to be 100% safe in those situations.

Freezing windows are also a pain, because if they freeze and you try to roll it down, this can cause more damage to your window and more money out of your pocket. It is best to lubricate your window tracks to be sure they won’t drag.
